Boclair Academy Achieves LGBT Charter at Silver Level

The motion

That the Parliament commends the pupils and staff of Boclair Academy, in Bearsden, on achieving the LGBT Charter at Silver level; acknowledges the efforts, dedication and hard work of pupils and staff to achieve this excellent commendation from LGBT Youth Scotland; applauds what it sees as the positive way in which the school community has embraced training and reviews of policies, practices and resources to ensure that Boclair Academy strives to go beyond meeting legislative requirements to become an even more welcoming and inclusive place for LGBTQI+ learners, staff, parents and the wider community; notes that the awarding body, LGBT Youth Scotland, praised the continuing positive campaigns undertaken at the school, including marking LGBT History Month when staff and pupils dressed in the colours of the Pride flag to create a rainbow mosaic celebrating the spirit of the LGBT community and allies; wishes all at Boclair Academy continued success in championing LGBT inclusion, and encourages other schools to follow in these footsteps and embark on what it sees as the incredibly worthwhile Charter initiative.
