Aberdeen City Council Successfully Bids to Bring Back Tall Ships in 2025

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen City on its successful bid to bring the world famous Tall Ships Races back to the city in 2025; recognises that the Tall Ships Races event is held annually in European waters to encourage young people into the maritime sector; understands that between 30 and 50 vessels will visit Aberdeen thereby supporting the City’s maritime heritage while enhancing economic growth and strengthening Scotland’s position as a world-leading events destination; notes that more than £200 million has been invested in the infrastructure at the Port of Aberdeen North Harbour to ensure the delivery of a unique Tall Ships Races 2025 experience since the City last hosted the event in 1997; commends the effort of Aberdeen City Council and the many stakeholders involved for a successful bid, and extends its best wishes for a celebration of shared maritime culture and history.
