Queen’s Award for Carnoustie Memory Loss Volunteers
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Carnoustie’s Lorraine Young and her community volunteer group, Carnoustie Memories on their receipt of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which, it understands, is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK; understands that this is in recognition of their eight years of pioneering work in the battle against memory loss caused by dementia, focussed on getting together people who are affected, along with their carers, to share memories of their enjoyment of sport and of golf and football in particular; further understands that US TV coverage of their work during the Open Championship at Carnoustie also inspired the first Golf Memories group in the United States, and commends all involved through the years.
