Maycie McDevitt is Irish Dancing Champion
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Maycie McDevitt, from Greenock, on winning one of Irish dancing’s top titles in her first year of competition; understands that Maycie, 12, has become the reigning British Open champion after bringing home the trophy from the finals in London; recognises that the rising star had only begun dancing 12 months ago and is following in the footsteps of her teacher, world class Irish dancer, Ainslee McDade; appreciates that Maycie, who attends the McDade School of Irish Dancing, is now preparing to compete at the national dancing championships in Ireland, and wishes her all the best for the future.
