SAMH Report on Mental Healthcare and Treatment During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the publication of the SAMH report, Still Forgotten? Mental Health Care and Treatment During the Coronavirus Pandemic; notes that this is the final report following a series of studies carried out between 2020 and 2022, focusing on the impact of mental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic on those already receiving mental health support; understands that findings of the report are informed by the experience of over 1,500 people and includes what it sees as ongoing challenges associated with changes to mental healthcare and treatment, such as a move away from face-to-face care and treatment, which, it believes has persisted throughout 2021-22 despite remobilisation of the NHS, and hopes that findings from the research will positively inform mental healthcare and treatment across Scotland and the Aberdeen South and North Kincardine constituency, and inform the upcoming renewed Scottish Government Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
