Newmains Honours Community Champions

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Newmains Community Council, Newmains Community Trust and the Community on their inaugural award ceremony; understands that the awards recognised the outstanding dedication and commitment across the community; notes that Business of the Year was awarded to Brian Jordan Electrics, for its financial contribution to many organisations across the community, Community Group of the Year was awarded to Woodland Clean Up for its dedication to making the community safer, cleaner and a welcoming place, Ambassador of the Year was awarded to Jordan Currie for ensuring that the vulnerable in the community were safe, well and fed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Fundraiser of the Year was awarded to Sharon Barrett for her tireless campaigning and The Edwina McAlpine Award was awarded to Community Council stalwart John Harper for his outstanding service to the community; notes that the evening raised over £1,000 which, it understands, will help towards the installation of a village defibrillator at the NCT centre; welcomes what it sees as an annual event, and wishes the community council, community trust and community all the best for the future.
