80 Years of Motherwell and Wishaw CAB

The motion

That the Parliament commends the work of Motherwell and Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) on its 80th anniversary; understands that Motherwell and Wishaw CAB has been working for the local community since 1942 and is part of the Scottish Citizens Advice network, which has been offering advice and support since 1939; notes that Citizens Advice specialises in a range of confidential and trusted services, including assistance regarding welfare, housing, debt, and money advice; understands that Motherwell and Wishaw CAB works alongside 11,500 clients every year, resolving 28,000 issues, highlighting what it sees as the vital role of the CAB in the community; considers that the delivery of free, confidential advice, which is now more necessary as ever, is crucial for individuals who are experiencing financial difficulty due to the rising cost of living; recognises what it sees as the significance of the Motherwell and Wishaw CAB operating as a lifeline in the community, providing advice and information on day-to-day issues, through to detailed support and specialist topics; expresses its gratitude to all volunteers and trained staff at the Motherwell and Wishaw CAB, and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.
