The motion

That the Parliament recognises that 3 December 2022 is the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities; understands that the theme of this year's celebration is “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world“; further understands that the annual observance of the day was proclaimed in 1992 through United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3, and that the day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities; celebrates what it sees as the progress that has been made in Scotland over the last few years in regard to inclusivity and equality for disabled people, but considers, however, that there is a great deal still to be done before disabled people can feel truly included and valued in every society.
