Ewan Hastie Named BBC Young Jazz Musician 2022

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Ewan Hastie, from Kirkcaldy, who has been named BBC young jazz musician 2022; understands that Mr Hastie, who plays the double bass, won the award at a ceremony held at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, in collaboration with the EFG London Jazz Festival; believes that Mr Hastie impressed the judging panel with an eclectic performance, featuring his own composition, Impulse, and arrangements of Tricotism by bebop trailblazer, Oscar Pettiford, and Chick Corea’s Humpty Dumpty, from 1978 concept album, The Mad Hatter; commends Mr Hastie for his dedication to his craft, and wishes him all the best for the future.
