Anthony Burns Receives Honorary Doctorate for Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Fashion

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Anthony "Tony" Burns, the Chief Operating Officer of Holytown-based ACS Clothing, on receiving an honorary Doctor of Business Administration from Glasgow Caledonian University for his outstanding contribution to sustainable fashion; acknowledges that in accepting his degree Tony humbly shared achieving his doctorate with all the ACS workforce and encouraged graduating students to make "sustainable choices" and "make the world a better place for us all"; understands that, as Chief Operating Officer at ACS, Tony has placed environmental considerations at the very core of the business' circular fashion operation, sustainably growing the company's operations and offering strong foundations for a reimagining of the fashion industry, where fashion brands and retailers are able to roll-out, at scale, rental or resale fulfilment models, and further understands that Tony is continuously improving ACS' operations with an aim of ensuring that ACS is net zero by the end of 2023, with its net zero journey involving multiple initiatives being taken forward with inclusive, collaborative working, including with other industry partners, academia and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland.
