Jade Edward to Represent Scotland in IPSA World Para Surf Championships

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates 10-year-old Jade Edward from Inverurie, who is soon to become the youngest ever athlete to compete in the IPSA World Para Surf Championships in California; notes that Jade will be part of the first-ever Scottish Para Surf Team; understands that Jade had to undergo emergency treatment to have her limbs removed at the age of two years old after contracting meningitis; notes that Jade began surfing just a year ago and regularly attends surfing lessons offered by SurfAble Scotland, a charity that provides surf therapy to disabled people; congratulates Jade on participating in her first surf competition at the English Adaptive Surfing Open in July 2022, which was held at The Wave in Bristol; celebrates Jade’s ultimate goal of competing in the Para Games 2028, and wishes her all the luck in the world as she takes on the IPSA World Para Surf Championships in December.
