Wheatlands House, Outstanding Residential Care Service for 2022
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Wheatlands House care home for children and young people in Galashiels on winning the Scottish Social Services Award for Outstanding Residential Care Service for 2022; notes that Wheatlands was one of three services shortlisted for the residential care category and was awarded the title after impressing the judging panel across the board for delivering quality care and outcomes for young people in the Scottish Borders over the last 10 years; pays credit to the loyal staff team at Wheatlands, who were found to be “highly skilled and experienced”, with their relationship-based approach clearly having a positive impact on the wellbeing of the young people in their care; notes that the admissions process received special praise for its success in minimising anxiety for young people coming into the home; recognises the significance of this achievement for Wheatlands House and all its staff and residents, and wishes the home continued success into the future.
