Girls in Energy Conference

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Shell UK for supporting girls from the north east and Fife to participate in the Girls in Energy programme; recognises the year-long engineering course that the programme delivers in partnership with North East Scotland College and Fife College to encourage 14- to 16-year-old girls to develop an interest in STEM subjects; understands that over 170 pupils from schools across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Fife participated in the 2022 conference and that they were tasked with finding innovative solutions to food, heating and energy related challenges; notes that since the launch of Girls in Energy in 2010, more than 1,000 school pupils have taken part in the programme, with many pursuing STEM-related or energy sector careers, and commends the work of Shell, its partners and volunteers for a successful event whilst extending best wishes for future success.
