Commending Michelle Sexton's Support for Brain Tumour Research

Lodged by Fulton MacGregor (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 24 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends Michelle Sexton from Coatbridge for her efforts raising money and awareness for Brain Tumour Research as part of the One Million Keepy Uppy Challenge; understands that the target of one million "keepy uppies" is a collective goal, with each participant aiming to contribute 10,000 "keepy-uppies"; notes that this figure was chosen to represent the £1 million needed to fund a Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence for a year; understands that this undertaking is in honour of her father, Thomas Sexton, who passed soon after his diagnosis of a pituitary adenoma in November 2019; believes that this challenge is especially dear to Ms Sexton, given her memories playing football with her father; understands that one in three people knows someone affected by a brain tumour, and further recognises that this translates to an estimated one million fans attending the 2022 World Cup in Qatar sharing this experience, and wishes Ms Sexton and all participating good luck both within the challenge and well into the future.
