Commending Belville Community Gardens

Lodged by Neil Bibby (Scottish Labour) Standard Motion 14 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends the Belville Community Gardens and its volunteers on their efforts in beginning a food share scheme; understands that every day, volunteers go round supermarkets collecting the food that can no longer be sold in a bid to fight food insecurity and reduce the carbon footprint; further understands that families rely on this service to bolster their food shopping and that demand for this service is growing; notes that as well as the food share scheme, Belville Community Gardens also grows its own produce and runs a soup kitchen for local residents, and commends it on the invaluable help it provides to the local community.
