£13 Million in Grants Awarded to Scotland’s Coastal Communities

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the £13 million in grants awarded to fishing businesses and marine organisations in Scotland’s coastal communities from Marine Fund Scotland’s latest round of funding; notes that a total of 60 projects, which, it understands, contribute to innovative and sustainable practices, minimise carbon emissions and support coastal communities, will receive grants ranging from £7,000 to £1.2 million; further notes that Bellshill-based Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group will use its funding for an upgrade of its refrigeration system, and understands the importance of this funding in supporting continual investment in the Scottish shellfish industry, which, it understands, is facing numerous challenges presented by Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic and inflationary pressures on businesses.
