Tunnock's and the People of Lanarkshire Raise Funds for Maggie's
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the iconic, Uddingston-based biscuiteer, Tunnock’s, and the people of Lanarkshire who have participated in the latest Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge, which in just three months has raised £72,000 for the cancer support centre, Maggie’s Lanarkshire; understands that this is the third time that the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge has been held to support Maggie’s Lanarkshire, a charity that provides free practical and psychological support for people with cancer and their family and friends; further understands that people from across Lanarkshire took on various challenges in a bid to match-fund the generous £50,000 donated by Tunnock’s, with activities including firewalks, undertaking Three Peaks Challenges, walking the Glasgow Culture Crawl, and hosting a plethora of local events, including bakes sales, psychic nights, golf events and much more, and understands that, despite the cost of living crisis, the ambitious target set by Tunnock’s was easily exceeded, with local people raising more than £72,000, which, it believes, demonstrates yet again the compassion, generosity and resilience prevalent across Lanarkshire as people dug deep to support people with cancer.
