Inverclyde League of Hospital Friends

Lodged by Stuart McMillan (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 25 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends the Inverclyde League of Hospital Friends as it celebrates 50 years of supporting Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH) and the local community; understands that, over the years, the group has provided volunteers to support and operate the hospital’s tea bar, which raises money that goes back into the Greenock site, and also works in partnership with the local Health and Social Care Partnership to support the patient transport service; recognises that, during its 50 years, the league has donated more than £2 million for various projects and pieces of equipment at the IRH; appreciates that, at various points during the COVID-19 pandemic, the group was unable to operate the tea bar but that this did not stop it from supporting staff at the IRH; understands that volunteers instead gave up their own time to provide supplies of coffee, tea and snacks at the staff relaxation and recuperation hub, which was set up to give members of staff a space to rest away from a clinical environment; thanks all those who have been involved with the league over the past five decades, and wishes the group all the best as it continues to devote time and efforts to fundraise and support important community projects at the hospital.
