Honouring Pioneering Work of Ann Moulds Outgoing CEO of Action Against Stalking

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the outstanding achievements of Ann Moulds, outgoing chief executive officer of Action Against Stalking (AAS) in the field of anti-stalking legislation over the past 13 years; commends what it sees as Ann’s ground-breaking work to give victims of stalking a voice, founding AAS in 2014 following a successful campaign to have stalking recognised legally; understands that AAS, which receives Scottish Government funding, is Scotland’s only charity dedicated exclusively to the victims of stalking; applauds Ann’s pioneering campaigning, which, it understands, resulted in tougher sentencing being introduced in Scotland, with the rest of the UK following suit and further resulting in a change in the law in 47 countries across Europe; applauds Ann’s dedication and determination for a change in the law after her own two-year ordeal at the hands of a stalker; understands that a victim-centred and trauma-informed approach has now been adopted with the new legislation recognising psychological harm and abuse as a crime, as well as physical harm; wishes Ann every success as she steps down now from her post as CEO; delights that she will remain with the charity, resuming her role as a Trustee on the board of AAS, and wishes Ann all the very best for the future as she hands over the baton to new CEO, Linda Jones to build on the fantastic work the charity has already achieved and support the delivery of its vision, purpose and aspirations.
