Distell International Wins Sustainable Development Award at Scottish Green Energy Awards 2022
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the success of Distell International in receiving the Sustainable Development Award at the 2022 Scottish Green Energy Awards; understands that the project, which is funded and owned by AMP Clean Energy, and developed, built and operated by Dallol Energy, has developed a sustainable biomass energy solution to advance Islay’s Bunnahabhain Distillery’s net zero targets; further understands that the on-site renewable energy facility is powered entirely by local forest biomass and spent malt, a by-product of distillation, which also supports the island’s local economy and forests; understands that the project will result in Islay’s first net zero distillation process; commends all those at Distell International for carrying out this fantastic project and for picking up this award, and wishes them all the very best going forward.
