Galashiels Scotland's Happiest Place to Live

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Galashiels on being named Scotland’s happiest place to live; notes that Galashiels was ranked as the UK’s second happiest place overall in Rightmove’s Happy at Home index, which asked 21,000 people how they feel about where they live; understands that locations were ranked based on things like proximity to green spaces, local amenities and whether residents feel there is a sense of belonging and community, and that Galashiels was recognised for the friendliness and politeness of its people; notes that this is the first time a Scottish location has been ranked within the top three of this index since 2016; pays credit to the people of Galashiels for making their town the friendly and welcoming place that it is, and hopes that receiving this title will encourage people to visit Galashiels to take advantage of all that it has to offer.
