The motion

That the Parliament notes the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission’s (SAWC) position paper on the trapping of terrestrial wild mammals using snares; highlights the paper’s recommendation that the sale of snares and their use by both public and industry be banned in Scotland, on animal welfare grounds; notes that according to the SAWC position paper, wild mammals and birds are sentient beings and that snares cause significant welfare harms to members of both target and non-target species, and encourages the prompt implementation of this recommendation.
