Maisie Banciewicz Named Technical Official of the Year by Triathlon Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Uddingston resident, Maisie Banciewicz, on being named Technical Official of the Year at the 2022 Triathlon Scotland awards, which recognise people from across Scotland that give their free time, passion and energy to develop the sport of triathlon; notes that Maisie is the first Scottish technical officer to achieve Level 3 qualification with the World Triathlon; understands that technical officials are the volunteer referees of the sport, providing invaluable support at triathlon events, helping create positive race experiences for all the competitors by ensuring that races are conducted safely and fairly; further understands that as well as extensive commitment to officiating at local and national triathlon events, Maisie has travelled the world volunteering at major sporting events including supporting the Scottish triathlon para athletes during the Tokyo Olympics, as well as volunteering at three consecutive Commonwealth Games, all this alongside almost 30 years of dedicated service to the NHS, and celebrates what it sees as the enormous positive contribution volunteers such as Maisie have on Scotland’s sporting landscape and society more generally.
