Gavin’s Mill in Milngavie Awarded 4-Star Scottish Tourist Board Accreditation

The motion

That the Parliament commends Gavin’s Mill in Milngavie for its 4-star Scottish Tourist Board accreditation, following an inspection from VisitScotland in November 2022; understands that the Fair Trade hub opened in 2017 and, at that time, was staffed almost entirely by volunteers, with profits going to the Gavin’s Mill Community Project, which aims to look after Gavin’s Mill as a community resource and to work with local community groups to develop it into a centre for sustainable food and crafts, building on the heritage of the Mill and its surroundings; acknowledges that, since opening, the business has grown and progressed considerably, with a website being built to allow online ordering during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that it is still active today, with new ranges of refillable cleaning and personal care products being stocked, and also zero waste hoppers being available, allowing people to buy dry goods by weight, helping to minimise packaging and food waste; notes that its 4-star status means that the quality of the entire visitor experience is deemed as "very good" from the friendliness of staff and standard of service, and congratulates Gavin’s Mill for this achievement.
