The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Claire Weddle, Therapeutic Activity Coordinator for the Borders Specialist care Dementia Unit (BSDU) at NHS Borders, on receiving the Arts in Older People’s Healthcare Award at the Luminate Scotland Creative Ageing Awards 2022; understands that Claire received the award for her hard work in providing meaningful activities to those who have, or may have, dementia; notes that, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Claire worked tirelessly to ensure that the Elderflowers, a team of professional art practitioners who are trained to work in healthcare environments with people living with dementia, were able to continue visiting patients in the BSDU, virtually, then later recommencing in-person visits, and pays credit to Claire for the commitment, compassion and care that she has demonstrated in her role, which has been recognised with this richly deserved award.
