Congratulating Raza Sadiq of Active Life Club on Winning the Sportscotland Community Hero Award 2022

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Raza Sadiq, founding member and chairperson of Active Life Club, on winning the Community Hero Award at the 2022 sportscotland Awards; notes that Active Life Club is based in Glasgow and offers services for young people to support their social and mental wellbeing through participation in sport; commends Raza for over 23 years’ service in the voluntary sector to promote diversity and inclusion within the community, using sport as the mechanism to create social cohesion; further commends him for his work as part of the Running Out Racism campaign group, which, it understands, seeks to eradicate racism from Scottish cricket; acknowledges his contribution to policy development in sport, and believes that his dedication and vision has changed the lives of thousands of children and young people through the Active Life Club.
