Clydebank Group, Moments of Freedom, Premiere its Film on the Experiences of New Scots at the Glasgow Film Theatre

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Clydebank group, Moments of Freedom, on the success of its film focused on cultural integration; notes that the group was founded in 2017, through a partnership between Outside the Box and West Dunbartonshire Resettlement Team, and is led by New Scot women in Clydebank, with the aim of giving members an informal space to take part in activities, meet other women with similar backgrounds and experiences, and to make connections and partnerships with the local community; understands that the women were approached by Ignite Theatre, an award-winning Glasgow-based charity, which engages with a diverse range of people who face multiple challenges in life, with an opportunity to make a film about their experiences of their lives in Glasgow, the challenges they have faced, and how the peer support of Moments of Freedom has helped them integrate in Scotland; acknowledges that the groups worked together over the summer to record and produce the film, with the final product being premiered in the Glasgow Film Theatre on 29 November 2022 to around 50 guests; applauds all involved for creating such an insightful feature, and looks forward to seeing what the women of Moments of Freedom get up to next.
