Cancelled ScotRail Services Terminating at Balloch and Helensburgh
The motion
That the Parliament is concerned by reports that 6,000 train services terminating at Balloch and Helensburgh since January 2020 have been cancelled; considers that there have been problems on the lines servicing the communities of West Dunbartonshire, Helensburgh and Lomond for a number of years with short-notice cancellations, cramped carriages and station skipping; understands that passengers feel let down by the service that is provided with many seeking alternative modes of transport, including using cars where available, to ensure that they get to where they need to be on time, and considers that this puts more pressure on the already-stretched road network and turns people away from sustainable train travel, which it believes the Scottish Government should be doing more to encourage people to use.
