The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement from Police Scotland that, as of 29 December 2022, officers have attended at least 100 overdose incidents where naloxone has been administered and a positive outcome secured; understands that this includes incidents where naloxone was administered as a last resort to people who officers considered may not survive; further understands that, to date, nearly 4,000 nasal kits have been issued across eight divisions and in custody centres, with 12,500 officers anticipated to carry naloxone by early 2023 as part of their standard kit, and commends the role of Police Scotland in supporting a public health approach to tackling drug harm, breaking the stigma of drug use and supporting families to avoid the heartache of losing a loved one to drugs.
