May Hughes Celebrates 70 Years of Dancing
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that May Hughes has celebrated her 70th anniversary as a dance teacher; further recognises that, across seven decades, May has taught thousands of pupils the art of dance; notes that she established her dance school in 1952 in Port Glasgow before moving it to Greenock; understands that her impressive career includes entertaining the late Queen Elizabeth II in her coronation year; celebrates that May has not only used her talents to teach generations of aspiring dancers but also to entertain nursing home residents and raise thousands of pounds for charity; further celebrates that her career was marked with a special dance event where she was joined by pupils past and present; celebrates that May, with her daughters, Sharon and Carolynn, continues to offer dance tuition to this day, and encourages her to do so for many years to come.
