The motion

That the Parliament expresses its opposition to the reported removal of the 52 circular service in Barrhead by the bus operator, McGills; understands that this proposal has been met with widescale opposition from Barrhead residents; considers that the route is a vital transport service for locals, including older people and schoolchildren to access shopping, healthcare and learning; understands that changes to vital bus services should not be taken without consulting the local residents who would be negatively impacted; believes that local bus routes, such as the 52 circular in Barrhead, play a major role in keeping a local community connected and accessible to residents, and should be protected, and calls on the Scottish Government to properly regulate bus services to protect vital local routes such as the 52.
