University of Aberdeen Renewables Project Receives £75,000 in Funding
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the University of Aberdeen on being awarded £75,000 from Scottish Enterprise to support a new renewable energy project; understands that the project, Direct Current Circuit Breaker (LCDC CB), which was developed by the University’s School of Engineering, is a new technology for use in direct current (DC) transmission and distribution of electrical power systems, and that this could support other renewables projects; believes that the project is regarded as essential for integrating Scotland's scattered and remote energy sources, and displacing conventional AC-based systems; considers that the research and laboratory tests on hardware prototypes of LCDC CB in the EU Horizon 2020 project promotion have delivered promising results; commends the work of the University of Aberdeen and all those involved in the project, and extends its best wishes for future success.
