Condolences on the Passing of Canon Joseph Clements

The motion

That the Parliament pays tribute to Canon Joseph Clements, who passed away on 4 January 2023; notes that Canon Joseph Clements was ordained on 29 April 1962 in the College Chapel at Valladolid by Bishop Black of Paisley, and served as Assistant Priest of St Francis Xavier’s in Carfin, St Aidan’s in Wishaw, St Bride’s in East Kilbride, and Motherwell Cathedral; further notes that, in 1987, he was appointment Parish Priest of St Thomas’ in Wishaw, where he served for five years before accepting the appointment as Parish Priest of St Aidan's Wishaw, where he served the community for a further 15 years; understands that, in 2011, Father Clements was made a Canon of the Cathedral Chapter; believes that the death of Canon Joseph Clements will be felt across Lanarkshire, and sends its condolences to his family, the clergy and people of the Diocese of Motherwell.
