Forth Green Freeport Confirmed

Lodged by Stephen Kerr (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) Standard Motion 1 supporter

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the news that Forth Green Freeport has been successful in its bid to become a Green Freeport; understands that this announcement will see the UK Government directly address infrastructure gaps, which, it considers, are currently holding back investment in Falkirk; further understands that Forth Green Freeport expects to attract up to £6 billion worth of investments, create 50,000 jobs, and generate £4.2 billion in additional gross value added in the first five years; believes that Green Freeports will have a focus on renewables manufacturing, alternative fuels, carbon capture utilisation and storage, and shipbuilding, as well as the development of a new creative hub, and considers that this is a further vote of confidence by the UK Government in the Falkirk area, following the recently announced Falkirk Growth Deal and Levelling Up Fund investments.
