Glasgow Organisation Life-changing for East End Men
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the work that Glasgow East End group, Menself+, is doing to tackle isolation and loneliness in men; notes that the group offers male-orientated support services through a range of outings, activities and group chats, which, it understands, are designed to help men with their mental and physical wellbeing, including walking groups, online bingo and five-a-side football; acknowledges that the group also provides a space to get healthy, socialise, and open up about their thoughts, experiences and emotions; understands that attendees can also take part in a health MOT for Men programme, which, it understands, educates men on cancer awareness, as well as how to check their prostate and keep their bodies healthy; notes that Menself+ is said to be helping between 80 and 100 people a week with its services; understands that the group also provides support to the surrounding community; acknowledges that Menself+ has recently incorporated women into the roster and that they have their own group in which to share and discuss their feelings, as well as a range of events and activities to participate in, including yoga and sewing, and recognises that the Parkhead-based group is hoping to achieve charity status.
