The Legacy of Falkirk GP, Dr Gillies Sinclair

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the career and legacy of Dr Gillies Sinclair, a GP who served constituents of Falkirk for decades, who passed away on 10 January 2023; notes that throughout his career, Dr Sinclair served the communities of Grangemouth and Camelon with the care he provided as a GP; understands that Dr Sinclair also played a role in the founding of Strathcarron Hospice, an organisation, which has provided specialist palliative care and support to those with life-limiting conditions throughout Forth Valley for over five decades; notes that that Dr Gillies was also club doctor for Falkirk Football Club, alongside being a member of the club’s board of directors for a period; understands that Dr Sinclair also contributed to Falkirk’s communities, including his work with Falkirk Rotary Club and Falkirk Probus Club, and was keen to extend opportunities to young people through the Young Leaders initiative that he helped to develop; commends Dr Gillies Sinclair for his fantastic work and the contributions he made to Falkirk district over a dedicated career, and extends its sympathies to his family, friends and the wider community following his death.
