Charlie Barleys' Gold Award for Haggis Pie

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Charles MacLeod Butchers, or "Charlie Barleys", on winning a Gold award for its haggis pie at the 2023 World Championship Scotch Pie Awards; understands that this year’s awards were held in Cumbernauld, and that it was the first time that the awards have been able to be held in person since before the COVID-19 pandemic; recognises Charlie Barleys’ iconic status as a prominent Western Isles business; understands that the family business, which was established in 1947, has gained international renown for its Stornoway black pudding in particular; notes that the Charlie Barleys premises has recently undergone successful renovation, and wishes the business well as it continues producing high-quality locally-sourced produce.
