Burlesque Groups Fundraise for Woman's Aid

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Burlesque dance troops that participated in the Battle of the Blondes Burlesque competition, raising funds for Woman’s Aid; understands that the event was organised by Victoria Watson and Adelle Barrett, burlesque instructors, with the event being dedicated to the memory of Aimee Cannon; further understands that 72 woman from across Lanarkshire, including a dance troop from Wishaw entertained the 500-strong audience within the Motherwell Concert Hall; notes that the first Woman’s Aid was set up in 1979, and the organisation continues to be at the forefront of shaping the response to domestic abuse across Scotland; commends the dance groups for empowering woman to be body proud, and Woman’s Aid for its dedication and commitment to helping those experiencing domestic abuse, and wishes the ladies all the best for the future.
