The Orcadian Wins Journalist and Young Journalist of the Year Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates The Orcadian's Mark Harcus and Ethan Flett on being presented Journalist of the Year and Young Journalist of the Year, respectively, at the Highlands and Islands Media Awards on 3 February 2023; recognises that sub-editor Mark Harcus was the unanimous choice of the judges for the Diageo Journalist of the Year and Sports Reporter of the Year awards for the high-quality of his news and sports reporting as well as feature writing on business and the environment; further recognises that trainee reporter, Ethan Flett, was described as a "rising star" and a great asset to local journalism by the judging panel who awarded him the Alex Main Trophy for Young Journalist of the Year; congratulates them both on this well-earned recognition and the whole team at The Orcadian on another successful year.
