Calanais 2025
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the £2 million grant from the Scottish Government's Regeneration Capital Grant Fund to the Calanais 2025 project; considers the Callanish Standing Stones to be one of the most iconic archaeological sites in Scotland; notes that this project will modernise and significantly expand the capacity of the current visitor centre, improving the overall visitor experience; further notes the project’s goals of enhancing the digital experience, expanding the range of tours available and developing community-based heritage research initiatives, and congratulates Urras nan Tursachan (the Standing Stones Trust) and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar on their work in putting forward the funding application.
