The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Bo’ness Belles choir on its 10th anniversary as a group and its fundraising efforts to benefit local charities; understands that the Bo’ness Belles was first set up in 2013 by Jeni Mallice, who was conscious of the isolation felt by vulnerable older members of the community; recognises that Jeni decided to tackle this social isolation by singing Christmas carols as a way to lighten spirits and, following on from a social media post asking for others to join her, the choir was founded; notes that the group performs at a variety of venues, from Bo’ness Hospital to various local care homes; recognises that Bo’ness Belles raised £5,700 by conducting singing events in aid of Bo’ness Car 4U, a local charity that provides volunteer drivers to transport cancer patients to appointments; understands that Bo’ness Belles has previously raised funds for Bo’ness Hospital, Bo’ness Storehouse Foodbank, Falkirk Autistic Bairns, the Tuesday Club and Thursday Group for people with dementia, raising a fantastic total of £34,000 thus far; notes that with this being its 10th anniversary, the choir intends to further its efforts and increase this total to £40,000 to mark the milestone by the end of 2023; congratulates Bo’ness Belles on its 10-year anniversary and the outstanding total raised thus far, and wishes all involved well in all their future fundraising efforts.
