The motion

That the Parliament commends four north-east firefighters, who, it understands, have joined the international rescue mission in Turkey, following the devastating earthquakes across southern Turkey and northern Syria; understands that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have joined the international relief effort, with Tony Armstrong and Keith Gauld, from the North Anderson Drive fire station in Aberdeen Donside, as well as watch commander, John Aitchison, from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre in Portlethen, and crew commander, Steve Adams from Dundee, being deployed to help with the rescue; notes that the four firefighters are part of a 77-strong team of firefighters and staff from across Scotland, England and Wales who are trained to lift, cut and remove concrete and rubble from collapsed buildings; understands that these members of the international search and rescue team are being deployed through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with all members being self-sufficient to ensure that no extra pressure is put on the countries they are visiting, by providing all of their own food, shelter and equipment; sends its deepest condolences to all those in Turkey and Syria impacted by the devastating earthquakes, and again commends the efforts of all those involved in the rescue mission.
