Fair Isle Artist, Vivian Ross-Smith, Awarded Freelands Studio Fellowship

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Shetland artist, Vivian Ross-Smith, on being awarded the Freelands Studio Fellowship at Swansea School of Art; understands that Vivian, who is originally from Fair Isle, will take up residence at her host university in a studio provided within the Fine Art department and spend a year concentrating on her own art practice; further understands that this opportunity will see her work, alongside lectures, as a teaching mentor, teaching art and contributing to creative communities within the art school environment; celebrates her selection as one of six artists across the UK to be chosen for the fellowship; understands that Vivian, who holds a Masters with Distinction from Glasgow School of Art and a BA (Hons) from Gray’s School of Art, uses physical and digital spaces to make painting performance and textile work, and wishes her success with the Freelands Studio Fellowship.
