Commending Willie Wilson

Lodged by Neil Bibby (Scottish Labour) Standard Motion 20 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends Clydebank-based firefighter, crew commander Willie Wilson, and a 13-strong team on completing a Doddie Aid event, run by the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, which is a charity that raises money for research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND); understands that Willie and the team peddled 555 miles from Cardiff to Edinburgh in just 48 hours and that Willie has previously completed fire walks, half marathons, four marathons and a bungee jump to raise money for the foundation, which was set up by the late Doddie Weir; further understands that Willie became heavily involved in the charity after his father passed away in 2008, after being diagnosed with MND, and that he said it was horrible to see his dad deteriorate and go from a fit and healthy individual to the confines of a bed; congratulates him once again, and wishes him luck in any future fundraising efforts.
