Lodged by Stuart McMillan (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 19 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament applauds Newark Primary School in Port Glasgow on being recognised by Dyslexia Scotland for its efforts to be more inclusive; understands that the school is the first organisation in Scotland to claim "official Dyslexia Scotland" changemaker status and has been awarded with a digital badge to demonstrate its positive action; recognises that, to achieve this, the Dyslexia Pathway GIRFEC group at the school put together dyslexia-friendly resources to help teachers support young people on a dyslexia pathway and distributed them throughout the school; notes that the group meets regularly to give their opinions and take on leadership roles within the school, and that this initiative is part of the group’s effort to help the school's teachers to create dyslexia-friendly classrooms; thanks the pupils, teachers and staff at Newark Primary for leading the way in its approach to dyslexia-friendly learning, and hopes their achievement will inspire other education settings to follow suit.
