Walking Football Initiatives Across Lanarkshire

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Active NL and Motherwell FC Community Trust's walking football programmes across Motherwell and Wishaw; understands that the programme encourages and empowers individuals, regardless of mobility and fitness, to participate in a sport; considers that studies have shown the positive health impacts of walking sports, such as lowering heart rate and blood pressure, better mobility and muscle tone, while also positively impacting mental health and wellbeing; acknowledges what it sees as the rising popularity of walking sports in general, allowing for sport to become more enjoyable, sociable and inclusive to all, and wishes all the community groups and participants all the best for the future.
