Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks' Response to Storm Otto
Lodged by Alexander Burnett (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party)
Standard Motion 26 supporters
The motion
That the Parliament commends the hard work of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) in what it sees as its exceptional response in reconnecting homes and businesses, following the power outages caused by Storm Otto; understands that SSEN restored power to 43,000 homes within 24 hours of losing power, which was 95% of the total number of affected homes; understands that 750 field and support staff worked in very challenging conditions to restore power, and considers that significant improvements had been made following Storms Arwen and Malik, such as improved communication with affected households on when power would be restored, which it believes had improved significantly when compared with Storms Arwen and Malik.
