Official Opening of Greenlaw Works, in Newton Mearns
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that the official opening of the Greenlaw Works in Newton Mearns took place on 16 February 2023, and that the project has been funded through the Glasgow City Region Deal; recognises that the Greenlaw Works aims to help to meet local demand for first-class office accommodation in order to promote economic growth, support the creation of new businesses and boost local employment opportunities; further recognises that the 20,000 sq ft building includes 35 office suites, meeting and breakout areas, and that there are firms from sectors including finance, marketing and logistics that are now conducting business activity from the centre; notes that the total funding package for the Glasgow City Region Deal, including East Renfrewshire and the seven other councils in the region, stands at £1.13 billion, and considers that City Region and Growth Deals are a profound example of what can be delivered for towns and cities across the nation when Scotland's two governments work constructively together and in partnership with local authorities.
