St Columba’s Pupils Become Assessors for Inverclyde Rights of the Child Award

The motion

That the Parliament commends pupils at St Columba’s High School in Gourock for becoming assessors for the Inverclyde Rights of the Child (IROC) Award; understands that the group of seven young people, supported by Inverclyde Children’s Rights Officer, Caroline McCahill, are helping organisations across the district to sign up and abide by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child; recognises that the cornerstone rights include education, health and equality; considers that overseeing the scheme is a big responsibility for the students, as they will set the criteria and hold local organisations accountable to them; appreciates that this work is also helping the pupils with their Duke of Edinburgh award, and wishes Kieran Mullan, Grace Rackham, Eden Hegarty, Kayley McKenzie, Erin McClafferty, Michael Farr and Carys Kinsella all the best with this project.
