SAMH Ask Them About Suicide Campaign

The motion

That the Parliament notes the Scottish Association for Mental Health's (SAMH) campaign, Ask Them About Suicide, which ran from November 2022 to January 2023, shaped by those with lived experience, encouraging and empowering people to ask the question, "are you thinking about suicide?", with confidence; understands that the campaign was accompanied by resources and tools including information on how to support someone who is living with suicidal thoughts and that it was SAMH’s first ever suicide prevention training for the public; recognises the importance of creating a culture where people feel informed and confident in asking about suicide; urges anyone with concerns or interest to find resources and information on the SAMH website samh.org.uk/ask, and notes that almost half a million people took action as a result of seeing the campaign.
